What if we didn't play by their rules
Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship. Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.

Probably, the most difficult part of being a parent is leading your family to follow God, when the life you choose stands in stark contrast to the way everyone else around you lives. We sure experienced that with small town living and small school sports. There were days that it really hurt me deeply because I knew in the immediate, here and now, you son would have to bear the burden of my choices.
We survived, but sometimes that was about all. Your mom and I wanted to make an investment in your lives that would last. We didn’t want you to live at a crazy pace or become so sold out to sports that it became the most important thing in your life. The problem always was, it was all or nothing.
That is still what the world will bark at you. We just can’t live that way. So, think in these terms. Why do we have to let the world around us set the trend? Why can’t we invite others into transformed thinking and worship-first living? Just imagine what your life, and your children’s lives, could be like if you created a fellowship of friends that redefined normal. What would that look like? What would that feel like? What could that mean for future generations? It’s up to you!
